Gesucht: Filme zum Thema Sex Arbeit!

Im Juni 2012 findet das erste Hamburger Sex Arbeit Film Fest (SAFF) statt.
Bis zum 15. März 2012 können Filme/Videos eingereicht werden.

Hamburg und St. Pauli sind Synonyme für Rotlichtbezirk und Amüsierviertel als Touristenmagneten. St. Georg präsentiert sich (noch) als ein klassisches Bahnhofsviertel.
In Deutschland gibt es ein Prostitutionsgesetz und damit ist die Ausübung von Sex Arbeit legalisiert. Sexarbeiter_innen können ein Gewerbe anmelden, Steuern zahlen und gegebenenfalls ausstehende Zahlungen einklagen. Gesetzlich sind sie anderen Dienstleistungsberufen gleichgestellt.

Aber die Realität sieht anders aus: St. Pauli und St. Georg sind Sperrgebiete, in denen Sexarbeit verboten ist. Jahrelang geduldet, wird nun hart durchgegriffen. Die aktuelle Stadtentwicklung und Standortspolitik und die damit verbundenen Umstrukturierungsmaßnahmen in Hamburg kriminalisiert und vertreibt Sex-Arbeiter_innen von angestammten Arbeitsplätzen. Bürgervereine beklagen sich über die Zumutungen für Anwohner_innen und die Politik spricht von einer Straßenstrichverlegung in ein Industriegebiet. Die Folgen wären eine enorme Verschlechterung der Arbeitsbedingungen für Sexarbeiter_innen und die Verdrängung in eine Gegend, die arm an Schutz, Infrastruktur und Unterstützungseinrichtungen ist.
Die jahrelangen Kämpfe gegen Stigmatisierung und Kriminalisierung von Sex Arbeit sind in vielen Punkten ähnlich, wie in Ländern, in denen Sex Arbeit nicht legal ist oder die Freier im Fokus der Repression stehen.

Mit dem Filmfest soll ein solidarischer Raum für Diskussionsbeiträge, Erfahrungswerte und politische Kämpfe von Sex Arbeiter_innen und Unterstützer_innen geschaffen werden. SAFF legt den Focus auf die Frage nach einer Darstellung von Sex-Arbeit jenseits von Stereotypen und medialen Zerrbildern.

Das SAFF-Team ist interessiert an einem breiten genreübergreifenden Spektrum von Filmen/Videos: experimentell / dokumentarisch / fiktiv / narrativ / aktivistisch als Kurz- oder Langfilm.
Ein großes Interesse gibt es auch an Filmen/Videos aus der Geschichte der Sex Arbeit.

Call for Films

Call for Submissions for the Sex Work Film Fest (SAFF).

The Sex Work Film Fest is now accepting international entries for the 2012 festival, to take place in Hamburg, Germany in June.
The entry deadline is March 15th 2012.

Hamburg is a city widely known for its ‘redlight district’ and, like many other places, has a long history of sex work. Sex work is legal in Germany, which should guarantee that sex workers have the same rights as other workers. However, the reality is that many of the fights for sex workers’ rights remain the same as they are in countries where sex work is illegal. The current wave of gentrification in the city criminalizes and displaces many sex workers from their established working places.

This festival aims to give a strong voice to sex workers, showing a wide variety of films that represent sex workers’ lives and that address the debates and discussions around sex work all over the world.

We are interested in a wide variety of material: experimental, narrative, fictional, documentary, shorts, diy, activist, etc.
The festival welcomes relevant films from any period and any genre.

To develop a non-patriarchal perspective was a priority topic of feminist film after 1968. Media archives like bildwechsel (Hamburg) and film distributors like Cinenova (London) turned feminist theory into an image practice. Focussing on the image politics of labour and the body we want to discuss with activists from both institutions about the relationship between feminist movement, film and art.

… *Che cos’è Bildwechsel?

È una organizzazione che nasce ad Amburgo nel 1979, in pieno movimento femminista, al fine di promuovere la presenza delle “donne+” (segue spiegazione sulla scelta del termine) nei campi artistico e culturali e in particolare nei Media audiovisivi.
Bildwechsel funge da piattaforma e infrastruttura, dove e attraverso cui le “donne+” possono sviluppare i propri progetti / idee , scoprire quelle di altre+, e condividere le diverse esperienze.
La sede ad Amburgo ospita vari tipi di archivi (film/video, cataloghi, musica, fanzine) e in particolare l’archivio video conta piú di 7000 esemplari.
Bildwechsel funziona attraverso il lavoro di “agenti” che in varie parti del mondo e sulla base di volontariato, raccolgono materiale, creano nuovi collegamenti, pubblicizzano il progetto attraverso filmevening, workshop, seminari, esposizioni ecc.

“animals in literature are freer than human beings from restricting laws of time and place. no prejudices intervene in the comfortable identification with an animal endowed with human properties.” dick bruna
the project LIVING OUTSIDE consists of fragments of my theatre plays: text + songs. LIVING OUTSIDE is an experiment which tries to bring the private world of a playwright onto a stage. I decided to translate fragments of my plays into english creating a performance / staged reading with me as a writer on-stage,  reading from my plays and singing the songs I made for them. CHUECA exposes the vulnerability of two women living on the margin of gender-norms. PARTIR y RENUNCIAR is a play about the conflict between traveling versus staying. this work suggests that wherever you go  you always take everything with you.
the set is a representation of nature. a landscape where I will transform into a weird version of myself, maybe I am an animal. I take my room into nature. I want to be exposed. also, I am outside to emphasize the vulnerability of transgender identities, a theme present in all my plays.

only four weeks to go! then bildwechsel invites you to our dotted-around video festival ‘parole:hochformat’
this is a proposal to hamburg city lovers and urban flaneurs, to discover fascinating videos in various locations – all over hamburg.

three good reasons for a stroll around town in the autumn air:

the grand finale on the 17th october, 8pm at the villa magdalena k will celebrate ‘parole:hochformat’ with a programme dedicated to the new productions received following the festival ‘call for videos’: see the works projected large scale!

Hauert und den Schlagzeuger David Kerman, bringen zusammen mit
Nathalie Percillier ein Kriminalstück mit musikalischen, filmischen
und performativen Mittel auf die Bühne.

Dem Film liegt eine stringente Geschichte, ein klassischer
Kriminalplot zu Grunde. Die Erzählung wird auf ihre reine Mechanik
reduziert und dient als (Knochen-)Gerüst für die opulente Lyrik und
Musik der Performance. Die Songs, Rezitate, Sprachimprovisationen,
Körper/Gestengedichte und Tänze sind das Fleisch der Aufführung. Die
Lieder bewegen sich auf einer Metaebene und werfen philosophische
Fragen auf zu: Identität, Liebe und Hass, Geld, Arbeit, Gedächtnis,
Schweigen, Protokoll, Wahnsinn, Sünde und Schuld und dem Nichts.

We recommend ‘high format’ (portrait/vertical format) for „out-of-the-box thinking“.

For the video festival „parole: hochformat“ in autumn 2010, bildwechsel is looking for short videos in ‘high format’.

‘parole: hochformat’ can be seen as a request to artists and to audiences to change position alongside a changing video format (from landscape to portrait).
It is an invitation to take note, to position one’s self and to change one’s position.

„CHANGE YOUR ATTITUDE OR TAKE ACTION“
is therefore the motto of this call for films.

PAROLE-HOCHFORMAT
is a videofestival which will be staged in Hamburg in autumn 2010 for the first time. It is organised by bildwechsel and will take place at ten different locations: artist run spaces, alternative spaces, small galleries, womens+-places. On large TV monitors we will present the compilation of freshly made short videos in ‘high format’.
The screenings of the high format compilation will alternate with videos from the bildwechsel archives which will be specifically selected for each of the ten chosen locations. There may also be shop window presentations at additional locations.

BILDWECHSEL
is an audiovisual archive offering an international panoramic view of video and film work made by women+ over the last 30 years. Over 7.000 videos and films are archived at bildwechsel.
The collection is classified into various archive sections, currently has a rapidly growing number of international queer videos/films as well as works by international women+ artists.

für das videofestival „parole hochformat“ im herbst 2010 sucht bildwechsel kurzfilme im ‘hochformat’.
‘parole hochformat’ ist eine einladung, selbst in bewegung zu kommen und auch als publikum aktiv zu werden, mitzumachen, die eigene haltung zu ändern oder zu handeln.

ist daher motto und thema, zu dem wir kurze filmbeiträge suchen.

PAROLE-HOCHFORMAT

als archivort hat eine schatzkammer mit über 7.000 filmen/videos mit dem schwerpunkt auf arbeiten von video/filmemacherinnen /künstlerinnen und angeschlossene sammlungen mit videos/filmen ihrer szenen und communities seit 1979. als zeitgemäßes archivieren gibt es bei bildwechsel die grundsätzliche haltung, die gesammelten videos/filme mit immer neuen zeige-formaten in aktuelle diskussionen zu bringen – als audiovisuelles gedächtnis zum mitdenken.

Music carries film in many ways. The videos we have chosen reinforce, play with, relate to, comment on (the) music.

This short film programme crosses genres, times and places: it is both a subjective selection of our favourites, as well as a selection that exemplifies the different techniques, themes and aesthetics of the times in which they were made.  A unique video programme from the bildwechsel video-archive.

* www.bildwechsel.org  – is a non profit organisation for women+/ media/ culture. Set up in 1979. it is an international archive and organizational model for women+ artists. The term women+ stand for a feminist projects which include trans*people and intersex persons, as well as people who belong to the queer movement. Besides a library, we host a video-collection with over 7000 titles, which were produced and collected during the last 30 years.

bildwechesl is also a community forum for action and produces connections, networks and common ground for artists and cultural workers. It needs your material support. It is a selforganised institution run by unpaid workers. It functions on the finance-it-yourself principal. If you are a filmmaker or videoartist, do not hesitate! Come to our show and bring us your work!
